This Friday 28th June is National cream tea day 2019.
It's time to rustle up some delicious homemade scones, break open the jam & dollop the delicious fresh cream.
HOSTING YOUR CREAM TEA.
After a hard day at work, college or school what a lovely way to spend an evening with family or friends, spread the table cloth, lay the table and dust off the best china, its time those beautiful tea sets came out of the cupboard and were used to celebrate this fabulous tradition.
What is your favourite flower at this time of year? a pretty vase with some beautiful roses, peonies or hydrangeas maybe ( pink roses for me!) , and if they are cut fresh from the garden will smell divine, or check out some of our fabulous local flower shops who usually have a lovely small bunch ready to pop in and takeaway.
A scented candle would be lovely, of course our favourite candle i Jo Malone, but the local Aldi have a fabulous alternative with a very similar aroma.
Fresh local strawberries from your local green grocer- perfect to compliment your freshly baked scones and strawberry preserve and make your table look vibrant and fresh.
MAKE AN EVENING OF IT.
The fresh pot of tea, or maybe a small selection of fruit teas for your guests is everything you need to discuss the events of a wonderful day but what about the chilled prosecco?
Or maybe nice jug of Pimms with with chopped fruit and fresh mint leaves.
IF YOUR OUT TO IMPRESS.
If you like to show off a little and impress your guests you could always upgrade the evening to a late afternoon tea with a plate of freshly cut sandwiches with favourite fillings and maybe some fresh meringues of your favourite victoria sponge or lemon drizzle, stick to the old favourites, a cream tea is typically English after all!
IF ALL ELSE FAILS.
If all else fails pop to Abbey Mill, we have our freshly baked scones coming out of the oven just after 10am and will be available until we close at 4pm and of course all weekend too.
If you have a friend or family member at home who deserves a cream tea on National cream tea day we have them boxed ready to take away, but hurry, #whenitsconeitsgone.
